Capt. Amarinder Singh, who arrived in Chandigarh, hit out at Navjot Singh Sidhu saying that he will make sure that Sidhu doesn't win, no matter where he contests from in the upcoming assembly elections.

"Sidhu is not the right candidate for Punjab. It is Sidhu's job is to run the party and it is CM Charanjeet Channi's job is to run the government. There should be no interference in running the government," Amarinder Singh said.

"In my tenure, I have interacted with a number of Party presidents, but have never seen anything like what Sidhu did," he added.

The remarks come after Navjot Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress President on Tuesday over his disagreement on certain names included in the Charanjeet Singh Channi government's cabinet. Sidhu was also angry over the appointment of the DGP and Advocate General.

In this regard, a two-hour meeting took place between Sidhu and CM Channi.

Earlier in the day, Amarinder Singh met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and said there were several issues that he needed to discuss with the NSA. They reportedly talked about the issue of Pakistani drones being regularly spotted in Indian territory.

Captain Amarinder Singh had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, sparking speculations that he is considering joining the BJP. However, he has clarified that he won't be joining the BJP.
