Rahul Gandhi Doesn’t Hold A Designation And He’s Calling Shots: Natwar Singh On Punjab Congress Crisis

The statement comes as Navjot Singh Sidhu met Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi this evening while Amarinder Singh said that he will leave Congress soon.

New Delhi: Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh on Thursday blamed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for the crisis in Punjab Congress.

Speaking to news agency ANI, he alleged that Rahul “who doesn't even hold any designation is calling the shots”.

In a video clip shared on Twitter, Natwar Singh is quoted as saying: “...(Present situation of Congress) It's not alright at all, there are three people responsible, one of them is Rahul Gandhi who doesn't even hold any designation, and he is calling the shots…”.

“Two of them decided to remove Amarinder Singh. He’s a senior member of Congress and you decide to remove him. Then who do you bring in his place? Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu.. who has resigned,” he adds in the video.

The statement comes as Navjot Sidhu met Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi this evening to possibly discuss the issues over which he resigned from the post of PPCC chief.

Meanwhile, responding to speculation over his future course of action, former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh clarified that he is not going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party but will leave Congress soon.

“I will be leaving the Congress party.. I will not be remaining in Congress, I am not joining the BJP,” Captain Amarinder Singh said, as quoted by ANI.

Shashi Tharoor Calls Alleged Vandalism At Kapil Sibal’s House: ‘Shameful’

In another issue concerning Congress, scores of its party workers reached at the Jorbagh residence of Kapil Sibal on Wednesday evening and protested against him after he targeted the high command during a press conference.

“In our party, there is no president so we don't know who is taking these decisions. We know and yet we don't know,” Kapil Sibal had said.

Informing about the alleged vandalism at Kapil Sibal’s residence, Manish Tewari wrote: “They damaged the car. Stood on top, so it caved in. Threw tomatoes both outside and inside the house. If this is not hooliganism then what else is it ???”

Congress MP for Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, condemned the act and termed it “shameful”.

“That is shameful. We all know Kapil Sibal as a true Congressman who has fought multiple cases in court for INC India. As a democratic party we need to listen to what he has to say, disagree if you must but not in this way. Our priority is to strengthen ourselves to take on the BJP!”: he tweeted.
