Will Conduct Discussions On Covid-19 Recovery, Climate Change Issues At G20 Meet: PM Modi

As per the PTI report, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, PM Modi will be visiting Rome and Vatican City from October 29 to 31, 2021.

New Delhi: Ahead of attending the G20 meet and COP-26 World Leaders' Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that in Rome he will be conducting discussions on issues such as global economic and health recovery from the covid-19 pandemic and will highlight the equitable distribution of carbon space in Glasgow.

As per the PTI report, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, PM Modi will be visiting Rome and Vatican City from October 29 to 31, 2021. Following this, Modi will be visiting Glasgow at the invitation of the UK Prime Minister Borris Johnson.

While noting that this will be the first in-person meeting since the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, PM Modi said, "In Rome, I will attend the 16th G20 Leaders' Summit, where I will join other G20 leaders in discussions on global economic and health recovery from the pandemic, sustainable development, and climate change."

Earlier today, Prime Minister Office (PMO) tweeted the image of PM Modi boarding the flight to Italy to participate in the G20 meet and COP-26 World Leaders' Summit.

"During my visit to Italy, I will also visit the Vatican City, to call on His Holiness Pope Francis and meet Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin," PM Modi was quoted by PTI in its report.

Ahead of the G20 summit, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the meeting will come out with a "very concrete outcome" in management and combating the current and future pandemic. "There is a suggestion to create a mechanism to cater to the future requirements," Shringla was quoted by PTI in its report.
