West Bengal: Lockdown Extended Till Sept 30, Metro Services To Resume From Sept 8; Check New Guidelines

Complete lockdown will be imposed across West Bengal on September 7, 11 and 12 to contain the spread of Covid-19, Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said.

The West Bengal government has extended lockdown in the state till September 30. In its fresh guidelines, the state government allowed metro services to reopen in the state in a "graded manner" with effect from September 8. Complete lockdown will be imposed across West Bengal on September 7, 11 and 12 to contain the spread of Covid-19, Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said. The fresh circular for the state comes ahead of the Unlock 4 phase of the country. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed Cinema halls, swimming polls and entertainment parks will also remain shut till September 30 Gathering and congregations banned in previous order, will remain banned. In addition to the relaxations permitted outside the containment zones, following things will be started: Operations of Metro Rail in a graded manner from September 8 would be allowed Open air theatres will be allowed to reopen from September 21 outside containment zones with necessary permissions from the local administration. Statewise complete lockdown dates: September 7, 11 and 12 will see strict lockdown across the state. All commercial establishment, government and private offices, and all public and private transport will be suspended. Only emergency Services will be allowed to function on the above said dates. Demarcation of containment zones Containment zones will be demarcated by district authorities with strict perimeter control and strict enforcement of containment measures as per the standard protocol. District Magistrates on assessment of local situation may enforce stricter containment measures in their districts,” the new guidelines stated.
