Weather Update: IMD Forecasts Wet Spell In These States Tomorrow. Check Details

A wet spell is forecast over northwest India on January 29, and 30. In the previous 24 hours, light rain was reported in a few locations in east Rajasthan, the Gujarat area, and in isolated locations across Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and other portions of Rajasthan.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a powerful Western Disturbance is sweeping over Afghanistan and the surrounding region.

High moisture input from the Arabian Sea is expected to remain across northwest India through tomorrow, January 30. Light/moderate widespread rainfall/snowfall is highly possible across the Western Himalayan Region, while light/moderate scattered to moderately widespread rainfall is forecast throughout Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh until Monday.

On Sunday and Monday, light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall is forecast throughout east Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Isolated very light rainfall/drizzle is also expected over Delhi in the morning hours of January 30.

"Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall very likely over Western Himalayan Region on 29th & 30th January 2023. Isolated hailstorm very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan on 29th and over Uttarakhand on 29th & 30th January, 2023," the IMD stated.

According to the weather department, there will be no major change in minimum temperatures over various regions of Northwest India during the next 24 hours, and temperatures will decline by three to five degrees Celsius over the following 48 hours. Minimum temperatures are expected to climb by two to three degrees Celsius over various portions of East India during the next 48 hours, then fall by two to four degrees Celsius. On January 30, extremely dense fog is expected throughout Punjab and Haryana, as well as Chandigarh and Delhi.

Meanwhile, a well-defined low-pressure region lingers over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent East Equatorial Indian Ocean.

On February 1, expect light/moderate rain in most regions, with isolated heavy rains extremely possible across southern Tamil Nadu.

Surface winds of 20-30 kmph are expected to continue over northwest India until Monday.

Delhi Witness Light Showers Today

On Sunday, the national capital experienced a few light showers while the minimum temperature dropped to 6.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the season's normal, according to the India Meteorological Department, PTI reported.

According to the IMD, the relative humidity was 95% at 8:30 am.

Generally overcast skies with light rain and thundershowers during the day are what the weatherman has predicted.

The highest temperature is predicted by the IMD to be approximately 17 degrees Celsius.
