Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall, Strong Gusty Winds Lash Delhi, NCR. Flight Operations Affected

Flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were affected on Monday due to the inclement weather in Delhi and NCR.

New Delhi: The residents of the national capital received a much-needed respite after it experienced strong winds and heavy rainfall on Monday morning. While the change in weather was a breather for the people from intense heat, strong gusty winds uprooted trees in many areas of Delhi and NCR blocking roads in some parts of the national capital. Breezy showers and strong winds also lashed the NCR leading to power cuts and damage in many areas, according to an ANI report.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rain along with gusty winds will continue for the next two hours.

"Dust storm/Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with a speed of 50-80 Km/h is very likely to continue over Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas during the next 2 hours," IMD tweeted.

Flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were affected on Monday due to the inclement weather in Delhi and NCR. The airport authorities have requested the passengers to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.

"Due to bad weather, flight operations at Delhi airport are affected. Passengers are requested to get in touch with the airline concerned for updated flight information," Delhi Airport tweeted.

IMD said that impact on vulnerable structures, kutcha houses, traffic, and visibility is expected and suggested people stay indoors and avoid travel if possible as rainfall is likely to continue in the national capital on Monday.

Earlier on Saturday, parts of the national capital received rainfall.
