Weather Update: Cold Spell To Tighten Grip Over North India For Next Two Days, Predicts IMD

The cold wave will affect sections of Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: Cold to Severe Cold Days is expected to prevail in northern India during the next 2 days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

“Cold Day to Severe Cold Day Conditions very likely in isolated/some parts over Madhya Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 24 hours and over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh during next 2 days,” IMD tweeted. 

The cold wave will affect sections of Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours. 

East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will also see cold wave conditions over the next 24 hours, and Odisha will experience cold wave conditions over the following two days.

The national capital's minimum temperature has plummeted to six degrees Celsius, while the highest temperature is forecast to reach 19 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD, much of Northwest India will see a modest rise in minimum temperatures of 3-5°C during the next four days. However, minimum temperatures in Central India will not shift significantly during the next 24 hours.

According to IMD, there will be no notable change in minimum temperatures over Maharashtra in the next 24 hours, but a steady temperature rise of 3-4°C during the next 3-4 days.

Meanwhile, it has been predicted that light/moderate rain/snow is very likely over the Western Himalayan Region during February 8, and 9, 2022, and isolated light rainfall is likely over northern parts of Punjab & Haryana-Chandigarh on February 8, and 9, 2022. 

According to IMD, under the influence of a feeble Western Disturbance; an isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall is expected over Western Himalayan Region on February 6, and 7, 2022. 

Some parts of Himachal Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may have an intense fog over the next two days, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will get moderate to severe fog over the next three days. 

During the following four days, similar fog conditions will be visible across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, as well as West Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
