The Chief Minister reached the flood-hit Sangli district where he visited Bhilwadi, Ankalkhop, Kasbe-Digraj to take stock of the situation after heavy rains last week caused deluge in some parts.

Mumbai: A violent clash broke out between police and Bharatiya Janata Party workers in Sangli on Monday afternoon when traders and party workers tried to stop Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery's convoy at Harbat Road to make a statement to him.

News agency ANI shared visuals of the incident where a large crowd of people can be seen stopping CM Uddhav Thackery's convoy following which the clash took place.

The Chief Minister reached the flood-hit Sangli district in western Maharashtra where he visited Bhilwadi, Ankalkhop, Kasbe-Digraj and various other areas to take stock of the situation after heavy rains last week caused deluge in some parts.

While interacting with the flood-affected victims, the chief minister assured them that the administration will take steps to provide all possible help, including food, clothing, medicines, and temporary shelter. He said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government will provide all possible help to those who have been affected by floods.

"I have visited the flood-affected areas at Taliye, Chiplun, Kolhapur and seen the damage. People have suffered financially, including that of Agricultural property and crop losses. No one will be left in the lurch. The government will extend whatever help it can in the interest of the people. I honestly want to work for my people. We will do everything possible to bring immediate relief to the people," he said.

Many districts of Maharashtra, including Raigad, Satara, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri and others have been ravaged due to the incessant rainfall in the last few days.
