Series Of Bomb Threats Trigger Panic At Vijayawada Railway Station, Security Tightened With Massive Search Op

Even before the first operation concluded, a second alarming call came in, alleging that a bomb had been placed at the Vijayawada Railway Station.

A series of bomb threat calls plunged Vijayawada into chaos on Saturday morning, prompting a high-level security alert across key locations, including the city’s bustling railway station.

Series Of Bomb Threats At Vijayawada

The first call, received by the police control room, claimed that a bomb had been planted on Besant Road. In response, security forces launched an extensive search operation that lasted over five hours, scouring the area with bomb detection squads and sniffer dogs. No explosives were found.

Even before the first operation concluded, a second alarming call came in, alleging that a bomb had been placed at the Vijayawada Railway Station.

Police acted swiftly, deploying additional personnel and initiating a comprehensive search of the station and surrounding premises. Trains were briefly halted, and passengers were subjected to detailed screening as part of the precautionary measures.

A third call soon followed, this time warning of a bomb on board the Jan Shatabdi Express traveling from Maharashtra to Visakhapatnam. Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams and local police inspected the train along its route.

Caller Traced To Maharashtra

Authorities were able to trace the caller to Maharashtra. While the identity has not been disclosed, police have confirmed that the individual has been located and investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the threats.

Security remains tight at the Vijayawada Railway Station, with a heightened police presence and intensified surveillance. Officials have urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity immediately. No injuries or damages have been reported, and train services have gradually resumed normal operations under close supervision.

Meanwhile, the bomb threat follows recent joint anti-sabotage checks conducted on Tuesday by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and City Security Wing (CSW) at railway platforms and station premises, amid increased security concerns.
