Uttar Pradesh Chose Nationalism, Good Governance And Development: Yogi Adityanath Hails BJP’s Win

“You all became winners under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi in the highly challenging elections,” said Adityanath.

Gorakhpur: Underlining that people have chosen nationalism, good governance and development in the recently-concluded assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh caretaker Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said all became “winners” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance.

“You all became winners under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi in the highly challenging elections,” said Adityanath.

“The people chose nationalism, good governance and development,” he added participating in the traditional Bhagwan Narsingh Shobhayatra at Ghantaghar in Gorakhpur, PTI reported.

Adityanath said this is the first time after Independence that the people gave victory to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in all the nine Assembly seats in Gorakhpur and also in 27 out of 28 seats in the division.

“The festival gives us the message that we emerge victorious if we collectively face the challenges,” he added addressing the crowd.

Adityanath, who played Holi with full enthusiasm amidst slogans of ‘Yogi Yogi’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ after performing the ‘aarti’, said: “In the society where Holika and Hirankashyap are present (in any form), Bhakt Prahlad and Bhagwan Narsingh are also present in the form of victory of good over evil.”

“The festival of colour is the symbol of unity and inspires us to move on the path of righteousness,” he added.

Adityanath, who will be the first chief minister in the last 37 years to return to power after completing a full term in the state, hailed the efforts of the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government to fight hunger and malnutrition during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The double-engine government has not done any charity, but only discharged its responsibility by giving free ration to 80 crore people in the country and 15 crore people in the state,” Adityanath said.

“The government not only saved people's lives but also their livelihoods,” he added.

The BJP won 255 assembly seats in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly. The saffron party’s allies Apna Dal (S) and Nishad Party bagged 12 seats and six seats respectively.

The Samajwadi Party came a distant second winning 111 seats and its alliance partners Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) got six and eight seats respectively.

The Congress and the Jansatta Dal got two seats each and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) bagged just one seat.
