UP Police Raid Urdu Poet Munawwar Rana's House; Police Reveal Son Tabrez Planned Attack On Himself

UP Police raided renowned Urdu Poet Munawwar Rana's house late night on Thursday in search of his son Tabrez.

Raebareli: Famous poet Munawwar Rana has alleged that 100 policemen of Uttar Pradesh raided their house late at night on Thursday. Rana said that police officers knocked after 1 am on Thursday night and when his wife opened the door to check, policemen entered their house without even informing him or other family members.

Munawwar Rana's wife said that she was stunned to see such a huge number of policemen at her door and was shocked when they rushed inside. The Rana family alleged that police did not inform the reason for the search and raided their house without any warrant.

Rana further said that he felt like he is in Kashmir when police raided his house.

Munawwar Rana's daughter and Congress leader Fauzia Rana has accused the administration of the raid. In a video, Fauzia said that they are being harassed and her ailing father was targeted by the UP police without any reason. She also said that police snatched their phones and harassed them.

While speaking to ABP News, Munawwar Rana said that police later informed them that they were looking for his son Tabrez but did not justify the reason. Munawar Rana also said that he will write a letter to the PM saying that the local administration is harassing his family and there is a conspiracy going on against his family which is pushing him towards committing suicide.

'Tabrez Rana Planned Attack On Himself'

A few days ago, Munawar Rana's son Tabrez Rana was attacked by bike-borne miscreants in broad daylight. The attackers opened fire on Tabrez while he was at a petrol pump in Tripula. Two bullets hit his car but Tabrez was safe. The attacked fled from the spot and after knowing about the incident police reached the spot and recorded the statement of eyewitnesses and seized the CCTV.

Now, police have disclosed that Tabrez himself had planned the attack to put the blame on his uncle's family over their ongoing property dispute. Sources further that he the policed have arrested the shooters seen in the CCTV and have got proof against Tabrez that he met the attackers beforehand and have conspired the act.

Police said that Tabrez planned an attack on himself with his two accomplices and the attackers were also known to him. Police have arrested the 4 people while Tabrez is on the run. Police also said that Tabrez had planned this to frame his uncle over the property dispute case and was planning to contest the election in the near future.

UP Police said that police could see Tabrez and the attackers clearly in the CCTV that they had met earlier before the attack. When Munawwar Rana was asked about the police revelation he said he has no idea and he doesn't think his son can do such an act. He again alleged that the police and administration are conspiring against him to taint his image.
