UP: After Firozabad Outbreak, 16 Dengue Cases Reported In Agra, Admin On High Alert

Of the 16 confirmed cases, six patients have been admitted to different hospitals in the city, while the rest are at their respective homes

Lucknow: After a dengue-like viral fever outbreak in Firozabad left several people dead, 16 cases of dengue have been reported in Agra on Friday. "Of the 16 confirmed cases, six patients have been admitted to different hospitals in the city, while the rest are at their respective homes,” Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Arun Kumar Srivastava said on Friday, according to ANI.

However, there are no reports of death so far. “Some patients have also recovered and no deaths so far,” Srivastava added.

 Stepping up efforts:

“The municipality is also on high alert and a regular cleanliness campaign is underway,” the CMO said. The district is conducting door-to-door surveys in accordance with the instructions of Uttar Pradesh health minister Jai Pratap Singh.  “All suspected cases are dealt with immediately. All ASHA workers have been instructed to monitor patients regularly and bring them to hospital in case of emergency,” he added.

The district is conducting regular misting in the medical school and that the water is regularly monitored to prevent the spread of dengue.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh informed that the state government is taking all possible measures to control the viral fever outbreak in the state. The minister informed that the government has noticed the shortcomings in the work of officials and this is the main reason for the viral epidemic in the city.

Firozabad is around 50km from Agra has witnessed the outbreak of dengue and deadly viral fever for the past three weeks now. The outbreak has mostly affected children. Around 57 people have died because of the diseases so far, and 404 patients are being treated in the medical college hospital, said the Uttar Pradesh government, according to the Hindustan Times report.
