Two Militants Killed In Kulgam Encounter, Operation Still On: IGP Kashmir

New Delhi: Two militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight which broke out between militants and government forces in the Khur village, in Dhampal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday. Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar (IPS), said that two militants have been killed in the ongoing operation. However, the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, the IGP said. Earlier, reports said that a joint team of Police, army's 34 RR, and CRPF launched a cordon search operation in Hanjipora. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter. A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between forces and militants. As per sources, two to three militants believed to be trapped.
