Tamil Nadu: Govt Suspends Classes For 9th, 10th And 11th, Check The Latest SOPs For Students

The Tamil Nadu government has suspended the offline classes for classes 9th, 10th, and till from 22nd March till further order. The government has issued a notification stating that hostels for these classes will be closed till the next order.

Amid a huge surge in the Coronavirus cases in the state, the Tamil Nadu government has suspended the offline classes for classes 9th, 10th, and till from 22nd March till further order. The government has issued a notification stating that hostels for these classes will be closed till the next order.

The government also stated that classes 9th, 10th, and 11th can continue their online classes but for class 12th students, they may be allowed to attend the offline classes because of their upcoming board exams. However, SOPs will be issued by the state government for class 12th students.

For students of class 10th, the government said that for boards other than the Tamil Nadu state board, the exams will be conducted on the scheduled date. 

The class 12 exams will commence on May 3, 2021, and end on May 21, 2021.

After a gap of nearly three months, Tamil Nadu on Friday once again reported over 1,000 new Covid-19 cases, recording 1,087 cases and nine deaths. This takes the tally to 8,64,450 and toll to 12,582. 

​Since March 5, the state has added 2,736 active cases, forcing hospitals that were slowly starting to treat more non-Covid cases to prepare for a potential second wave of infection.

Tamil Nadu reported 1,005 cases on December 28. Since then the number of new cases were on a decline. However, an upward trend began to emerge in the recent weeks. The state’s test positivity rate has risen from 1 percent on March 5 to 1.4 percent on Friday.
