'Pujor Samayo Tumi Gaan Karo': Babul Supriyo Meets CM Mamata For The First Time After Joining TMC

She asked me to work with all my heart & sing with all my heart which I think is icing on the cake. She said 'Pujor samayo tumi gaan karo", Supriyo told reporters on Monday.

New Delhi: TMC leader Babul Supriyo who recently joined back the party met CM Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata after which he thanked her and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee for the warm welcome her received.

"I'm very happy to meet her. The affection & warmth with which she welcomed me to the TMC family...She asked me to work with all my heart & sing with all my heart which I think is icing on the cake. She said 'Pujor samayo tumi gaan karo", he told reporters on Monday.

This was Supriyo's first meeting with Banerjee after he joined the TMC on Saturday, the BJP MP from Asansol, visited state secretariat Nabanna to meet Banerjee. During an interview with PTI, he was asked about his role in the TMC, Supriyo said it was for the party to decide.

"I have nothing to say about it. It is for the party and our supremo Mamata Banerjee to decide. It is her prerogative," he said.

Speaking about his conversation with Mamata Banerjee, he said, "We had a very musical talk, at the same time whatever she said was really music to my ears. I want to thank Didi and Abhishek for welcoming me so affectionately & warmly to the TMC family".

Supriyo, who announced in July that he was quitting politics after being dropped as a minister, said he was disillusioned and wanted to give more time to arts and music."But, I definitely nursed a desire to return to active politics and I got that opportunity from the TMC. I wanted to be in the 11-member squad of a team -- if not in my favourite Mohun Bagan, then in East Bengal or another good club. I thank TMC for giving me that opportunity," PTI quoted him as saying.

On Sunday, he had said he was aware of the trolling that's been happening on the internet regarding his return to the party after joining BJP right before the Bengal Elections.

"I am aware of trolling on social media. I have been engaged in politics for the last 7 years. I felt it was a good opportunity (on joining TMC) for public welfare", he was quoted by ANI.

Reacting to BJP slamming him for joining TMC, he said, "The Opposition party has a place in a democracy and Mamata Banerjee is a strong face of the opposition party. You are seeing how the people of the opposition party are coming to her. The BJP will criticise us. It's natural," according to ANI.
