Mahua Moitra Lok Sabha Expulsion: TMC, BJP Accuse Each Other Of 'Killing Democracy'

Mahua Moitra Lok Sabha Expulsion: The BJP and the TMC are accusing each other of 'killing democracy' a day after Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in the cash-for-query matter.

Mahua Moitra Lok Sabha Expulsion: The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress are engaged in a heated war of words, with each accusing the other of "killing democracy". The fresh acrimony comes amid the political storm triggered by TMC leader Mahua Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha in connection with the cash-for-query matter.

Speaking on Moitra's expulsion, BJP leader Dushyant Gautam said that the way the TMC leader used her ID and killed the democracy, a Parliamentarian should never do such a thing. "The way she (Mahua Moitra) used her ID and killed the democracy, a Parliamentarian should never do such a thing. For some money, she compromised with the security of the country," Dushyant Gautam said.

TMC State General Secretary, IT and Social Media Cell Nilanjan Das, said that the saffron party has betrayed democracy and did not allow Moitra to explain her stand.

“Today, I am sad to see the attitude of the @BJP4India. How they betray democracy... They didn't allow @MahuaMoitra to explain her stand. Full injustice has been done.”- @AITCofficial Chairperson @MamataOfficial on expulsion of #MahuaMoitra from Lok Sabha," Nilanjan Das said on X.

Earlier on Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the BJP and called Moitra's expulsion "vendetta politics." She said that the saffron party has killed democracy, and it is an injustice. "This is vendetta politics of BJP. They killed democracy....It is injustice. Mahua will win the battle. The people will give justice. They (BJP) will be defeated in the next election," says TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee.

Shiv Sena Rajya leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticised the BJP over Moitra's Lok Sabha expulsion, saying that the decision was taken in haste and that it was against the natural course of justice. "The decision was taken in a haste, it was against the natural course of justice. No proof, no written document were shown. BJP is trying to silence the opposition by using ED, CBI, I-T as weapons," Chaturvedi told PTI.
