The Kashmir Files: MP Cops To Get Leave To Watch Vivek Agnihotri Film, Home Minister Instructs DGP

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had decided to exempt the film from entertainment tax in the state as he thinks that the movie should be watched by the maximum number of people.

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Monday during a press conference said that all policemen in Madhya Pradesh will be given in leave to go watch Vivek Agnihotri's film 'The Kashmir Files' whenever they choose to do so with their families. 

The MP told the press that has given the instructions to the Director-General of Police Sudhir Saxena for the same, adding that he thinks that it is a very good film. He further said that a major role is played by an actor from Bhopal in the film.

Earlier, on Sunday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had decided to exempt the film from entertainment tax in the state. In a tweet on Sunday, CM Chouhan had said the film is a "heart-wrenching narration of the pain, suffering, struggle, and trauma faced by Kashmiri Hindus in the 90s".

He said the movie needs to be watched by maximum people, hence the state government has decided to make it tax-free.

The Kashmir Files has been written and directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, the film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir following systematic killings of people from the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among others.
