A viral video of the leopard showed the animal attempting to chase the two-wheelers and cross the road.
Talking to Times of India, Telangana Chief Wildlife Warden, Elusing Meru, identified the animal as a two-year-old male and confirmed that the accident occurred when the leopard tried to cross the road during the night.

Last year, a leopard sighting at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport set off alarm bells, prompting forest officials to set up a cage in an attempt to capture the big cat. The airport authorities quickly informed the officials, who then took action to secure the area.
Meanwhile, recent data from the ‘Status of Leopards in India - 2022’ report, released by the Centre, revealed that the leopard population in Andhra Pradesh has grown by 15%, rising from 492 in 2018 to 569 in 2022, as per a report on The New Indian Express.
This increase in leopard numbers has led to more man-animal conflicts, as diminishing habitats force wildlife, particularly leopards, to encroach into urban and rural areas in search of food.
