Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021: Election Commission has also ordered the transfer of Tamil Nadu's Inspector General, South Zone S Murugan to a non-election post with immediate effect.
Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021: Barely a few weeks ahead of the crucial Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday transferred as many as nine ACPs and DSPs of the state and ordered that they should not be assigned any poll-related work. As per reports, the tranferred officers belong to departments such as Central Crime Branch, Prohibition Enforcement Wing and others.
The single-phased Tamil Nadu Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on April 6 and the results for the same will be declared on May 2.

1. R. Anbarasan, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai Police
2. M. Velmurugan, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai Police
3. H. Krihsnamoorthy, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai Police
4. P. Govindaraja, Prohibition Enforcement Wing (North) Greater Chennai Police
5. MSM Valawan, Economic Offences Wing, Headquarters, Chennai
6. E. Thirunavukkarasu, Prohibition Enforcement Wing Vellore District
7. M. Radhakrishanan, Investigative Unit of Crime Against Women Villupuram
8. P. T Subhash, District Crime Records Bureau, Ramanathapuram District
9. Р. Gopalan Chandran, Tiruchirappalli District

Meanwhile, the poll body has also ordered the transfer of Tamil Nadu's Inspector General, South Zone S Murugan to a non-election post with immediate effect. It also asked the state government to send a list of names of officers for appointment as IG, South Zone in place of Murugan.
The term of the state's 15th legislative assembly of Tamil Nadu will end on May 24, 2021. Voting will take place on 234 seats.
