BJP removes Dayashankar Singh as vice president in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: UP BJP Vice President Dayashankar Singh on Wednesday apologised for making derogatory remarks against BSP chief Mayawati.   Singh faced severe criticism for comparing Mayawati to a 'prostitute' with the issue being raised vociferously in Rajya Sabha by BSP MPs.   Speaking to ABP News, Singh said that he regretted making those remarks and would carefully make in future.   “I respect Mayawati ji a lot, she's a senior leader. I apologise for the comments I made,” he said in a telephonic conversation.   On behalf of the party, Arun Jaitley also apologised in the Upper House saying, “I'm personally hurt that a BJP party person used such derogatory words against Mayawati”   “I should tell Mayawati ji that the party shares her grief over this issue, I will look into this matter, we stand with her,” he added.   SC Mishra, BSP MP, demanded Singh’s immediate arrest under provisions of the SC/ST act.   Mayawati who was present in the House also attacked the BJP demanding the arrest of Singh.   “I have never used such derogatory remarks ever in my political life so far against any leader at any level. I have never attacked on the character of my political opponents. I have always sharply fought an ideological battle,” she said.   “Dayashankar Singh should be arrested otherwise, if in response to this people get violent, it will not be on my conscience. The nation will not forgive BJP for this, especially with what is going in Gujarat,” she added.
