'Grossly Incorrect': Suresh Gopi Refutes Claims Of His Likely Resignation From PM Modi's Cabinet

Suresh Gopi's reaction came after reports surfaced claiming that the actor-turned-politician wanted to step down from the ministerial post.

Suresh Gopi, BJP's first-ever MP from Kerala, has refuted claims that he does not want to be part of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government calling it 'grossly incorrect'.

"A few media platforms are spreading the incorrect news that I am going to resign from the Council of Ministers of the Modi Government. This is grossly incorrect. Under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala," Suresh Gopi said in a post on X.

Gopi's reaction came after reports surfaced claiming that the actor-turned-politician wanted to step down from the ministerial post.

Attaching his photo with Modi on his Facebook page, Gopi said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala.

As per the reports, Suresh Gopi said he wanted to be relieved from his post and work as an MP for the people of Thrissur. It further claimed that the BJP MP had signed films and has to do them at any cost.

"My aim is to work as an MP. I didn’t ask for anything. I had said that I don’t need this post. I think, I will be relieved from the post soon. There is no problem with Thrissur voters. They know it and, as an MP, I will perform really well for them. I have to do my films at any cost," Suresh Gopi reportedly said following the oath-taking ceremony.

Suresh Gopi and senior BJP leader George Kurian were the only BJP leaders from Kerala to be inducted into the Union Cabinet on Sunday.

Gopi won the Thrissur parliamentary constituency, which has been a Left bastion, and created history as the first BJP MP from Kerala.

The Thrissur seats holds a special place in Narendra Modi's heart, as it is home to the Guruvayur Lord Krishna temple, a famous Vaishnavite shrine he visited soon after assuming office as prime minister for the second consecutive term in 2019.

The seat witnessed a three-way contest for the Lok Sabha polls, with major candidates from the Congress, BJP, and CPI locked in a neck-and-neck battle.
