SIA Conducts Raids At 11 Locations Across Kashmir In Sleeper Cell, Online Radicalisation Crackdown
The SIA Kashmir conducted raids across Central and North Kashmir, following similar operations in the South, targeting sleeper cell modules.
In a continued crackdown on terror networks, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir, on Saturday carried out extensive raids at approximately 11 locations across Central and North Kashmir in connection with an ongoing investigation into sleeper cell modules.
According to officials, these raids follow similar operations conducted earlier this week in South Kashmir as part of the same investigation. The searches were carried out in relation to FIR No. 01/2025 registered under Sections 13, 17, 18, 18-B, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Police Station CI/SIA Kashmir.
The raids, authorised by a competent court, were conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrates. During the operations, officials said that “substantial incriminating materials” were seized, and several suspects were detained for further questioning.
Preliminary investigations, as per SIA sources, suggest that the individuals under scrutiny were allegedly involved in terror conspiracies and promoting anti-India narratives. These activities are reportedly aimed at “challenging the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India” and at “inciting disaffection, public disorder, and communal hatred.”
The SIA reiterated its firm resolve to safeguard national security and maintain public order, asserting that it “will continue to take firm action against individuals or groups involved in any kind of secessionist and terrorist activities.”
Individuals Being Investigated For Online Radicalisation Fall Within Vulnerable Age Group Of 18 To 22 Years
It has also come to light that many of the individuals being investigated for online radicalisation fall within the vulnerable age group of 18 to 22 years. In light of this, the SIA has emphasised the crucial role of teachers, parents, and peers in guiding and monitoring youth.
“While constant monitoring may not always be possible, they should remain alert to the online activities of young individuals and offer timely guidance if any concerning behaviour is noticed,” the agency stated. It further advised that if necessary, such matters should be promptly reported to local police authorities to ensure appropriate intervention and counselling for the affected youth.
