'A Problem With Every Player': Shama Mohamed's Old Post Slamming Virat Goes Viral Amid Rohit Sharma Row

Congress leader Shama Mohamed faces criticism for her old social media post criticizing Virat Kohli for his response to a fan in 2018.

Amid the ongoing controversy over fat-shaming Team India Captain Rohit Sharma, Congress leader Shama Mohamed has found herself in another row over her old social media post on Virat Kohli.

In November 2018, the Congress leader criticised Kohli for his response to a fan, where he stated that 'those who prefer English and Australian batsmen should not live in India'.

She posted, "@imVkohli plays a British invented game, makes crores from endorsing foreign brands, got married in Italy, names Hershelle Gibbs his favorite cricketer & @AngeliqueKerber the best tennis player, but tells those who love foreign batsmen to leave India."

As her post went viral, many users said that it looked like she has a 'problem with every Indian player'. One user wrote, "He (Mr Kohli) has done so much for the country," while another said, "So, it was not one one-sided arrow; rather she hates all of them."

What Kohli said?

While reading messages addressed to him from the public, Virat Kohli came across a message that read, “Overrated batsman. I personally have seen nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indian."

Kohli responded by saying, “I don’t think you should live in India, go and live somewhere else. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries?"

“I don’t mind you not liking me, but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things," he added, and later said, “Get your priorities right."

Shama on Rohit Sharma

Earlier, Shama Mohamed fat-shamed Rohit Sharma after he was dismissed after 15 runs off 17 balls during a match against New Zealand for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Congress leader also said Sharma needs to lose weight. "Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!," she wrote in a post on X that has been deleted now.

"What is so world-class about him when compared to his predecessors? He is a mediocre captain as well as a mediocre player who got lucky to be the captain of India," she wrote in another post.
