Sambit Patra wades through waterlogged Mumbai roads, Twitter erupts in laughter

Patra and Upadhye were spotted walking in knee-deep water on their way to Mumbai BJP's office in Dadar East.

MUMBAI: As torrential rain continued to lash Mumbai, BJP spokespersons Sambit Patra and Keshav Upadhye were on Tuesday seen wading through water-logged roads in the metropolis. Patra and Upadhye were spotted walking in knee-deep water on their way to Mumbai BJP's office in Dadar East. As soon as their photo was shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, Twitter erupted with laughter. Here’s what Twittersphere reacted after seeing Patra slogging through waters with shoes in hand. Heavy rains continued to batter Mumbai, its surroundings, hitting normal life and disrupting rail and road traffic. The downpour flooded many roads and streets in low-lying areas of the city and its adjoining districts of Palghar and Thane. People at some places were seen wading through waist-deep water. The Tulsi lake -- a major source of water supply for the city and its suburbs -- overflowed due to the heavy showers. Mumbai's famous tiffin carriers Dabbawalas, also suspended their services on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rain till Thursday.
