The Dalit mob got agitated on being stopped from holding the maha-panchayat and torched a bus and over a dozen motor cycles.
Even police vehicles were not spared. The agitated mob also reduced a police station to ashes.
During the clashes between police officials and mob, SDM and many other others faced serious injuries.
Speaking on the issue, SSP said “Regional head reached the location on time and brought the situation under control. Further investigation took place thereafter. He added saying that “we haven’t found any dark spots as yet”.
How did it all start?
It all started over Maharana Pratap’s shobha yatra which was organised on April 20 by BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal without taking any permission in Saharanpur.
The incident was followed by a lot of opposition and ruckus at SP’s house.
Post this there were protests between Dalits and Thakurs which led to death of one person.
Over two dozen Dalit homes were torched, which was a bone chilling site for the victims and the locals.
Speaking on the incident, a local accused said that “no authorities or administrators have visited the location, or have come for their rescue”.
After Tuesday’s incident Saharanpur’s SP in charge of city and rural area were sacked.
Even UP DGP visited Saharanpur 2 days ago and issued a warning to those who are taking law in their own hands.
