Rajasthan Govt Crisis: HC To Resume Hearing On Petition Filed By Sachin Pilot On Tuesday Morning

Pilot and his followers are being represented by a legal team led by senior advocates Harish Salve and Mukul Rohtagi. On the other hand, Congress's Rajya Sabha member Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for the other faction led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Rajasthan High Court on Monday said that it will resume the hearing on a petition filed by sacked Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and 18 other rebel Congress MLAs against disqualification notices issued to them by Assembly Speaker CP Joshi before Jaipur Bench of Rajasthan High Court at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning. ALSO READ | Rajasthan Crisis: Saddened But Not Surprised By Baseless, Vexatious Allegations, Says Sachin Pilot On Friday, the high court had directed that no action be taken against Sachin Pilot and the other rebel Congress MLAs until Tuesday and had deferred the hearing of their plea challenging the state assembly speaker’s disqualification notices. Pilot and his followers are being represented by a legal team led by senior advocates Harish Salve and Mukul Rohtagi. On the other hand, Congress's Rajya Sabha member Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for the other faction led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The matter had first come up before Justice Satish Chandra Sharma at about 3 pm on Thursday, but the dissidents’ advocate Harish Salve sought time to file a fresh petition, which was filed at about 5 pm. The court referred it to a two-judge division bench. On Monday, the court resumed hearing the petitions filled by Pilot and 18 other rebel Congress legislators against the disqualification notices served to them on July 14 by state assembly Speaker CP Joshi. According to the notice, if these MLAs fail to respond to the notice then the Speaker can proceed ex parte and disqualify them from the Assembly. In the house of 200, Congress has 107 MLAs, including 19 of those who have been issued notices of disqualification by the assembly speaker on the complaint by chief whip Mahesh Joshi. The party claims that the Gehlot government has 109 MLAs, including Congress, independents, and other supporting party legislators, in its support to run the government.
