Rafale clean-chit: All these thieves are afraid of 'Chowkidar', Amit Shah lambasts Congress
Opposition parties, primarily the Congress, have been attacking the Modi government over the deal, alleging that it was struck at a much higher price and benefited Anil Ambani’s Reliance Defence at the cost of the government-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The charges have been denied by the government. The Congress has maintained that Supreme Court’s verdict is not a clean chit to Modi government and has continued its demand for a Join Parliamentary Committee probe.
New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to give a clean chit to the Modi government on Rafale deal and slammed the Congress party for “misleading the country”. Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Shah said “Congress had been trying to mislead the people of this country and it is unfortunate that oldest political party is adopting such means.”
He demanded an explanation from the Congress for not executing the Rafale deal between 2007-2014 that in return put the nation’s security at risk.
Shah alleged that the Congress was shying away from appearing in the Supreme Court as it did not have facts to present. “Why can't they reveal their source of information,” he asked.
“Congress has generated a fantasy where there is no truth. Today they are questioning the Supreme Court. What is the point of this,” the BJP President questioned.
Attacking the Congress further, Shah said "all these thieves are calling the Chowkidar 'chor' which clearly shows they are afraid of him."
On questions related to BJP’s drubbing in three assembly elections, Shah said he would answer them in a day or two by holding a press conference.
