Punjab- AAP declares 5 candidates for 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal had on October 11 said that his party will contest all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and not enter into alliance.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab on Tuesday declared its five candidates for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The party who has made a strong base in the state declared candidates for Sangrur, Faridkot, Hoshiyarpur, Amritsar and Anandpur Sahib.
  • From Sangrur, the party has chosen Bhagwant Mann, who is currently a member of parliament from the region.
  • Professor Sadhu Singh, who won general election from Faridkot in 2014 he is now set to contest the election from Faridkot itself.
  • Dr Ravjot Singh will be contesting the election from Hoshiyarpur. He is a zone president and unsuccessfully contested the last Assembly election
  • The party will be fielding Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Amritsar. He is in-charge of party’s Ghagha zone.
  • Whereas, Narender Shergill will be battling from Anandpur Sahib. Shergill is currently the chairman of the Finance Committee of Aam Aadmi Party.
The Aam Aadmi Party has made a strong base in Punjab and fought neck-to-neck during the recent Assembly polls but couldn’t bag more than 20 seats. Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal had on October 11 said that his party will contest all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and not enter into alliance. "We will fight on all Lok Sabha seats from the state, we will not enter into any tie-up with anyone," Kejriwal, who was in Bathinda to attend a party legislator’s wedding” he said.
