Pulwama Encounter: One Of Two Jaish-e-Mohammed Terrorist Trapped In Gundipora Killed

A terrorist was shot dead on Monday morning in Pulwama in an encounter that has been ongoing since Sunday evening.

New Delhi: One terrorist has been killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Police, the encounter started at Gundipora in Pulwama on Sunday night after security forces launched a cordon and search operation to track militants in the area.

The input of two local terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) in the area was provided by Kulgam Police.

Kashmir zone Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Sunday informed the said two JeM militants, including the killer of constable Reyaz Ahmad, were trapped in the encounter with security forces.

The constable was killed in Pulwama on May 13.

This comes after two days after the Anantnag encounter in which two terrorists were gunned down by the security forces.

The encounter took place in the Shitipora and Bijbehara areas of Anantnag. The officials said that incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the two slain terrorists, adding that the two had been involved in several terror crimes.

“Killed terrorists identified as Ishfaq Ah Ganie resident of Chakwangund, Anantnag & Yawar Ayub Dar, resident of Dogripora, Awantipora, affiliated with proscribed terror outfit HM. The duo were involved in several terror crimes,” said Kashmir IGP.
