Property worth Rs 18 cr seized from a patvari's house in Indore

The revenue department worker or Patvari; who is at one of the lowest positions in the office; usually earns Rs 18 lakh in a duration of 13 years; which comes down to around Rs 1,38,000 in an year.

Indore: In a shocking incident, Black money worth 18 crores have been seized by Lokayukta from a revenue department employee’s residence in Madhya Pradesh’s financial capital Indore. The incident came to light from Indore’s Sri Nagar area. The seizure was made by the Lokayukta after it conducted raids following a tip-off. The revenue department worker or Patvari; who is at one of the lowest positions in the office; usually earns Rs 18 lakh in a duration of 13 years; which  comes down to around Rs 1,38,000 in an year. As per the officers who conducted raids; the Patvari had transfdered his entire property in the name of his maternal uncle; but the raids removed the lid off his black money and his relation with his uncle. The Lokayukta thereafter raided his uncle’s residence as well; post which revelation about properties and cash worth Rs 5 lakg were seized. The raids have created an anxiety among the revenue department officials; who were unaware of such ‘under- the- table’ earnings of their colleague.
