New Delhi: Preparations are in full swing ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura on Sunday.

PM Modi is set to visit poll-bound Tripura and Meghalaya to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various projects worth over ₹6,800 crore.

These projects will cover several sectors, including housing, road, agriculture, IT, tourism, hospitality, and telecom.

In an official statement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that PM Modi will also take part in the golden jubilee celebration of the North Eastern Council and attend its meeting in Shillong.

According to Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, PM Modi will land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport at 2.15pm and be received by Chief Minister Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma, Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya, Union minister Pratima Bhoumik, Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb and Lok Sabha MP Rebati Tripura.

After a welcome ceremony at the airport, the prime minister’s convoy will reach Swami Vivekananda ground, where he will be addressing a public meeting.

He will also virtually join the “griha pravesh” of 1,51,019 rural beneficiaries and 54,526 urban beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.

In a bid to boost the telecom connectivity in the region, PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation 4G mobile towers, of which more than 320 have been completed and around 890 are under construction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the new campus of IIM Shillong at Umsawli, apart from several other development initiatives, including four road projects across the three states of Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

With a focus on improving road connectivity, the prime minister will inaugurate a project for widening of the Agartala bypass (Khayerpur-Amtali) NH-08, which will help ease traffic congestion in Agartala city, the PMO statement further said.
