Poor to be the biggest beneficiary of demonetisation, says Amit Shah
New Delhi: Speaking at a special programme Shikhar Sammelan, organized by ABP News here, BJP President Amit Shah on Friday said that if anybody is going to benefit from the move to demonetize old currency notes, then its going to be the poor. Also, those standing in queues will reap maximum benefits, said the BJP President.
Here are the key points of the exclusive interview:
- The decision to demonetise the old high value currency notes has been taken to fight the menace of black money in the country. Demonetisation was the only step that could have been taken to put an immediate stop to the use of black money.
- When it comes to the country's economy, demonetisation is undoubtedly the biggest move since the country's independence to purify the economy.
- Indians have accepted the decision to demonetise higher value currency and are cooperating in transforming the country’s economy and society.
- It was a difficult move but we are confident that with courage and hard work, we will achieve what we want to.
- We don't know anything about publicity or propaganda. We have the substance and that is why people have placed their faith in us.
- People have faith in Narendra Modi. The whole world is in awe at the decision that has been taken. The PM had already said it on November 8 itself that people will have to face problems for 40-50 days. But if a disease as old as 70 years can be treated by someone within 50 days, then I believe that everybody will stand with the decision.
- "We want people to know that the government, the BJP is standing with them. They are not the only ones in pain. Their suffering causes us suffering but I promise you, if anyone is going to benefit from demonetisation, it will be the ones who are standing in queues."
- "When this will all be over, the poor is going to be the biggest beneficiary of demonetisation."
- On the concern of agriculture, Amit Shah said that when the GDP numbers will be out, it will be clear that agriculture has clearly gone up under the rule of a 'chai bechne vala.'
- The opposition is furious. It's hard for them to digest what has happened. "I don't know what is wrong with the opposition. I have never seen their faces go this red."
- Demonetisation is going to hugely affect the upcoming elections in BJP's favour. And this is evident by the opposition's reaction.
- The BJP President also spoke about the surgical strike. For the first time, Indian soldiers went into Pakistan territory and carried out necessary action. I believe, it was historical. Today, every Indian is proud to be a part of India. Every Indian believes that this government can protect the national borders.
- Amit Shah also expressed his views on 'Triple Talaq' repeating what he had said earlier that the Indian constitution gives women equal rights. Our duty is to make sure that all women get the rights the constitution grants them.
