'Fit India Movement' First Anniversary: PM Modi Launches 'Fit India' Protocols, Interacts With Kohli Among Leading Fitness Influencers
The Fit India Dialogue witnessed Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli, model-turned marathon runner Milind Soman, and nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar among the top notch fitness influencers participating and interacting with PM Modi in the event.
On the first anniversary of Fit India movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with leading sportsmen and fitness experts who serve as influencers and role models for the millions of youth across the nation.
The Fit India Dialogue witnessed Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli, model-turned marathon runner Milind Soman, and nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar among the top notch fitness influencers participating and interacting with PM Modi in the event.
The PM launched the ‘Fit India Age Appropriate Fitness Protocols’ during the online 'Fit India Dialogue' 2020. During the event, the Prime Minister also shared his thoughts on the importance of good health in an individual's life.
The PM also shared a video of his interaction with the noted fitness enthusiasts on his Twitter handle.
PM Modi thanked Virat Kohli for taking time out from his busy IPL schedule to talk to the nation. While speaking with PM via video conferencing, Kohli talked about the importance of fitness and how he himself understood the need to make fitness his priority. PM Modi also joked about if the Indian skipper misses Delhi's Chole Bhatures as Kohli spoke on the importance of maintain a proper diet to improve his own game and can help his countrymen. While discussing about fitness, PM Modi asked the Indian skipper if he gets tried, to which the later said that he focuses on maintaining a proper diet, sleep pattern and recovery routines that help him to quickly recover from tiredness. Later, PM Modi also wished Anushka Sharma, Kohli's wife and actor, health. The couple has recently announced that they are pregnant with their first child. The 'Fit India Dialogue' event kickstarted with Paralympic javelin gold medalist Devendra Jhajharia and Jammu and Kashmir footballer Afshan Ashiq being the first ones to address the event. Actor and fitness freak Milind Soman harped on the importance of mental strength by stating that walking for hundreds of kilometers was not a difficult task provided one had a strong mind to accomplish the feat ‘Fitness knows no limit,’ he said. “One does not require a lot of space or a gym to become fit. They can become fit without supplements and energy drinks,” he said. Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli said that he was very regular with his fitness regime and avoids missing it for even a single day. “Even if practice is missed for a day, he makes sure he does not skip his fitness session on any day,” Kohli said. Well known nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar urged people to stick to simple food. “We should not lose health, but weight. We should eat home-made food and avoid packaged food. This is the secret to good health,” she said.
