Kargil Diwas 2024: PM Modi Slams Pakistan For Waging 'Proxy War' Against India, Calls It 'Masters Of Terror'

On Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi criticized Pakistan's continued engagement in terrorism and proxy warfare, assuring that Indian soldiers would crush any such activity and give a fitting response.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday delivered a powerful message to Pakistan, saying the neighboring country continues to engage in acts of terrorism and proxy warfare to maintain its relevance in the region. Speaking on the occasion of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi emphasised the unwavering commitment of the Indian armed forces to eradicate terrorism.

The Prime Minister is in Shradhanjali Samaroh in Ladakh's Dras to pay homage to the fallen soldiers on the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Addressing the event, PM Modi assured the nation that Indian soldiers would use their full might to crush any terrorist activities and provide a fitting response to the enemy.

"Today, this great land of Ladakh is witnessing the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Kargil Vijay Diwas tells us that the sacrifices made for the nation are immortal... Pakistan has failed in all its nefarious attempts in the past. But Pakistan has not learned anything from its history. It is trying to keep itself relevant with the help of terrorism and proxy war," he said.

"Today I am speaking from a place where the masters of terror can hear my voice directly, I want to tell these patrons of terrorism that their nefarious intentions will never succeed. Our soldiers will crush terrorism with full force and the enemy will be given a befitting reply," the Prime Minister added.

He said that on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the nation honours the gallant efforts, and sacrifices of our armed forces. "Today, the great land of Ladakh has become a witness to 25 years of Kargil victory. Kargil Vijay Diwas tells us that the sacrifices made for the country are immortal," he noted.

"In Kargil, we not only won the war, we gave a wonderful example of 'truth, restraint and strength," the Prime Minister said.

Expressing his gratitude to the Armed forces, PM Modi stressed that India will always be indebted to the brave soldiers of our Army. "This country is grateful to them. It is my good fortune that during the Kargil war, I was amongst our soldiers as a common countryman," he said.

The Prime Minister also listed the administrative and social changes in Jammu and Kashmir under his regime and said, "Be it Ladakh or Jammu and Kashmir, India will defeat every challenge that comes in the way of development. In a few days, on August 5, it will be 5 years since Article 370 was abolished. Jammu and Kashmir is talking about a new future, talking about big dreams... Along with infrastructure development, the tourism sector is also growing rapidly in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. After decades, a cinema hall has opened in Kashmir. After 3 and a half decades, Tazia procession has been taken out in Srinagar for the first time. Our heaven on earth is rapidly moving towards peace and harmony."

PM Modi also talked about the Agnipath scheme and said its goal is to keep the Army "continuously fit for war."

"Some people used to think that the Army means saluting politicians, doing parades but for us, the Army means the faith of 140 crore countrymen. The goal of Agnipath is to make the Army young, to keep the Army continuously fit for war. Unfortunately, some people have made such a sensitive issue related to national security a subject of politics. These are the same people who weakened our Army by committing scams worth thousands of crores in the Army," the Prime Minister said.
