PM Modi To Chair Crucial Security Meet Tomorrow On Pahalgam Terror Attack

PM Modi to chair key CCS meeting after Pahalgam terror attack; crackdown on LeT intensifies, Altaf Lalli killed. India suspends Indus Water Treaty, downgrades ties with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting at 11 AM on Wednesday, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 28 lives. This will be the second CCS meeting in the wake of the tragic incident.

PM Modi will lead a series of meetings which are scheduled on Thursday as he will review preparedness of the security forces in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 26 people last week.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is the highest decision making body on national security of India and it will hold a meeting around 11 am. This is the second CCS meeting after the Pahalgam attack. And in this meeting the security preparations of all Indian Armed Forces would be discussed. After the first security meeting all of the intelligence agencies and security forces started arresting and eliminating the terrorist in their hideouts.

PM Modi will also chair the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) after the CCS. Apart from the Prime Minister, the other members of the CCPA are the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Health Minister JP Nadda, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior ministers.

The last CCS meeting took place two days after the Pahalgam terror attacks. The chair reviewed the overall national security situation of the country and put all the forces on alert. And PM Modi also said that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Altaf Lalli was killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora. The operation, launched based on specific intelligence inputs, was part of a larger crackdown on LeT operatives connected to a recent attack that claimed 26 lives. During the joint search operation, a fierce exchange of gunfire led to Lalli’s elimination.

In response to Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the Pahalgam attack, India has taken a series of stringent measures. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty—a key water-sharing accord with Islamabad—halting SAARC visa issuance, shutting down the Wagah-Attari border crossing, and downgrading diplomatic ties.

The Indian government also ordered all Pakistani nationals residing in India to return to their country by Sunday, with an extension until Tuesday for those on medical visas. In retaliation, Pakistan announced the suspension of all bilateral agreements with India, including the Simla Agreement.
