PM Modi Takes Veiled Jibe At DMK In Tamil Nadu: ‘Gave 3X Funds, Yet Some Keep Crying’ — Video

PM Modi praised Tamil Nadu's role in India's development and highlighted the central government's increased funding for the state. He criticised the DMK government for complaining despite receiving more funds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Tamil Nadu has a very big role in the journey of developed India. He said that the more the strength of Tamil Nadu increases, the faster will be the growth of India. The remarks by PM Modi comes as he addressed a public gathering after inaugurating the New Pamban Bridge in Rameswaram.

Speaking at a rally, PM Modi said that in the last decade, the central government has given three times more money for the development of the state than in 2014. In a veiled attack on the ruling DMK, PM Modi said that despite this, some people keep crying without any reason.

“Before 2014, only Rs 900 crore was received every year for the railway project. This year, Tamil Nadu's railway budget is more than 6,000 crore rupees and the Government of India is also modernizing 77 railway stations here. This includes the railway station of Rameswaram,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also asked the DMK regime to impart medical education in Tamil medium.

"I feel blessed that I could pray at the Ramanathaswamy temple today. On this special day, I got the opportunity to hand over development works worth Rs 8,300 crores. These rail and road projects will boost connectivity in Tamil Nadu. I congratulate my brother and sisters in Tamil Nadu for these projects."

PM Modi also said that Tamil Nadu is the land of Bharat Ratan Dr Kalam. He added that the life of Kalam showed that science and spirituality complement each other.

“Similarly, the new Pamban Bridge to Rameswaram brings technology and tradition together. A town that is thousands of years old is being connected by a 21st-century engineering wonder. I thank our engineers and workers for their hard work. This bridge is India's first vertical lift railway sea bridge” PM Modi said as quoted by news agency PTI.

PM Modi on Sunday inaugurated the New Pamban Bridge – the country’s first vertical-lift sea bridge – in Tamil Nadu. He also flagged the new train service off Rameswaram-Tambaram (Chennai).

PM Modi On Fishermen

Speaking on fishermen, PM Modi said that the government also cares about their safety and security and stands firmly with them in times of crisis. He further added that due to the continuous efforts of the government, more than 3700 fishermen have been brought safely from Sri Lanka in the past ten years.

"We also care about your safety and security. The Indian government stands firmly with every fisherman in times of crisis. Due to the continuous efforts of the Government of India, in the last 10 years, more than 3,700 fishermen have been brought back safely from Sri Lanka…,” PM Modi said as quoted by news agency IANS.
