'PM Modi Should Sack Amit Shah By Midnight If...': Congress' Big Attack On Centre Over Ambedkar Issue

Mallikarjun Kharge hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for defending Shah and dared him to remove the Home Minister from the cabinet for the alleged insult.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday made a scathing attack on Home Minister Amit Shah for his alleged insult of BR Ambedkar during the address to Rajya Sabha.

Kharge called Shah's remarks in the Parliament on Tuesday an "insult" to Ambedkar and attacked him for taunting the opposition leaders in the house.

The Congress leader also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for defending Shah and dared him to remove the Home Minister from the cabinet for the alleged insult.

"The Prime Minister instead of reprimanding him (Amit Shah)... he is defending him and posted 6 tweets. What was the need to that," Kharge questioned.

"If someone says anything wrong about Baba Saheb (Ambedkar), he should be removed from the cabinet. But they both are good friends. They support each other's misdeeds," the Congress chief added.

The Congress chief demanded that Amit Shah should be sacked by midnight and tender an apology.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hit out at the Congress for conrnering Amit Shah over his Ambedkar remark.

"If the Congress and its rotten ecosystem think their malicious lies can hide their misdeeds of several years, especially their insult towards Dr. Ambedkar, they are gravely mistaken! The people of India have seen time and again how one Party, led by one dynasty, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar and humiliate the SC/ST communities," PM Modi said in a post on X.

INDIA bloc MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest in Parliament premises holding images of B R Ambedkar, a day after Home Minister's remarks on him. The Opposition alliance demanded Shah's apology as they lined up in front of the steps of the Makar Dwar of Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has moved a privilege notice against Shah, saying that he undermined the legacy of the Constitution's architect and the dignity of the Parliament. The privilege notice was moved by TMC's Rajya Sabha leader Derek O'Brien under Rule 187.

While attacking the opposition, Shah hit out at the Congress for repeatedly taking the name of BR Ambedkar saying that if the party had taken God's name so many times they could have earned a place in heaven.

"Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai - Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar'. If they had taken God's name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven)," Shah had said.

Shah also said the BJP is happy that the Congress is taking Ambedkar's name but the party should also speak about its real sentiments towards him. Shah also pointed out how Ambedkar had to resign from the first Cabinet citing his disagreement with the then Congress-led government's policies including Article 370.
