'Extraordinary Human, Friend, Mentor': PM Modi, Rajnath, Business Leaders Condole Ratan Tata's Death

Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of the biggest conglomerates in India, passed away at the age of 86 on October 9.

Ratan Naval Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of the biggest conglomerates in India, passed away on October 9. As the news of his demise broke out, tributes started pouring in from across the country, mourning the philanthropist's passing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to condole the death of the "visionary business leader" and recalled his interactions with him in Gujarat. Besides PM Modi, several leaders including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and businessmen Gautam Adani and Anand Mahindra, and Bollywood actor Salman Khan also offered condolences on the "legendary giant's" death.

"My mind is filled with countless interactions with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. I would meet him frequently in Gujarat when I was the CM. We would exchange views on diverse issues. I found his perspectives very enriching. These interactions continued when I came to Delhi. Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti," PM Modi stated in a post on X.

Calling him an "extraordinary human being", PM Modi said: "Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better."

Tata Group's Chairman Remembers Ratan Tata As 'Friend, Mentor, Guide'

The Tata Group also issued an official statement, confirming the loss of their "uncommon leader". Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran called Ratan Tata his mentor, guide, and friend, who inspired by example.

"It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation," Chandrasekaran said.

"Ratan Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass," the statement read.

Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah Offer Condolences

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed "deepest condolences" to Ratan Tata's family and admirers.

"Saddened by the passing away of Shri Ratan Tata. He was a Titan of the Indian industry known for his monumental contributions to our economy, trade and industry. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace," Defence Minister posted on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to X to pay his tributes to the legendary industrialist. He offered condolences to the Tata Group and to Ratan Tata's admirers. Shah highlighted how Tata "selflessly dedicated his life" for the country's development.

"Deeply saddened by the demise of legendary industrialist and true nationalist, Shri Ratan Tata Ji. He selflessly dedicated his life to the development of our nation. Every time I met him, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed me. His commitment to the welfare of our country and its people led to the blooming of millions of dreams. Time cannot take away Ratan Tata Ji from his beloved nation. He will live on in our hearts. My condolences to Tata Group and his countless admirers. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti," Shah said.

'Unable To Accept His Absence': Anand Mahindra

Indian businessman and chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra reacted Ratan Tata's demise and said that he is unable to accept his absence.He heaped praises on the late industrialist and credited him for India's economic position, "which stands on the cusp of a historic leap forward".

 "India’s economy stands on the cusp of a historic leap forward. And Ratan’s life and work have had much to do with our being in this position. Hence, his mentorship and guidance at this point in time would have been invaluable. With him gone, all we can do is to commit to emulating his example. Because he was a businessman for whom financial wealth and success was most useful when it was put to the service of the global community," Anand Mahindra stated in a post on X.

"Goodbye and Godspeed, Mr. T...You will not be forgotten. Because Legends never die," he tweeted.

'Legends Like Him Never Fade Away': Gautam Adani

Adani Group's Chairman Gautam Adani also condoled Ratan Tata's death, saying that legends like him never fade away.  

"India has lost a giant, a visionary who redefined modern India's path. Ratan Tata wasn’t just a business leader - he embodied the spirit of India with integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to the greater good. Legends like him never fade away. Om Shanti," he wrote on X.

'Left Lasting Impact On Business & Philanthropy': Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi offered condolences to Ratan Tata's family and Tata community. "Ratan Tata was a man with a vision. He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata community," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

'Gem Of The Country': Yogi Adityanath Remembers Industrialist Ratan Tata

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath called Ratan Tata a "gem of the country". He expressed sadness on his demise and 

"The demise of India's renowned industrialist, 'Padma Vibhushan' Shri Ratan Tata Ji, is extremely saddening. He was a great leader of the Indian industry. His passing is an irreparable loss to the business world. His entire life was dedicated to the industrial and social development of the nation. In the truest sense, he was a gem of the country. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at His feet and to give strength to his grieving family and admirers to bear this sorrow," Yogi Adityanath stated on X.

'History Will Record His Many Achievements, Good Deeds': Atul Keshap

US India Business Council president Atul Keshap offered heartfelt condolences to the Tata Sons family after Ratan Tata's demise.

"Our USIBC Chair, entire membership, and staff join me in expressing our heartfelt condolences to the Tata Sons family and all who loved and respected Ratan Tata, a truly great son of India, on his passing. History will record his many achievements and good deeds," he stated in a post on X.

Salman Khan Mourns Ratan Tata's Passing

Bollywood actor Salman Khan also mourned Ratan Tata's passing. "Deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Ratan Tata," he tweeted.
