PM Modi Meets Prez Kovind At Rashtrapati Bhavan Ahead Of Presidential Election

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the main tunnel and five underpasses of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project earlier in the day.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. The details of the meeting haven’t been revealed yet. PM Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, called on President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a tweet. Notably, Kovind's term as the president ends on July 24.

The notification for the presidential election was issued on 15 June. The last date for filing nominations will be June 29. Apart from this, the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on June 30 and the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers will be July 2. 

It is to be noted that voting for the presidential election will be held on July 18 and the counting of votes will take place on July 21.

As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the main tunnel and five underpasses of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project earlier in the day. 

This project is an important part of Pragati Maidan Redevelopment Project. Fully funded by the Central government, the project has been undertaken at a cost of over Rs 920 crore. 

After unveiling the tunnel, PM Modi also inspected the project. While appreciating the corridor, PM Modi said, "Delhi has received a beautiful infrastructure gift from Centre."

The Pragati Maidan tunnel, according to Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, is "a first of its type subterranean corridor in the country and an engineering marvel."

It was after this inaugural event that PM Modi reached Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet Kovind.
