‘Polls Aren’t Won On Social Media’: PM Modi’s Swipe At Congress, Says Not Running 'Mai-Baap' Govt

PM Modi stated in his remarks following his interaction with the beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra that it is necessary to win people's hearts before winning elections.

Asserting that the recent assembly poll results have demonstrated that 'Modi's guarantee' resonates with people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that some political parties do not understand that making "false announcements" will achieve nothing. PM Modi stated in his remarks following his interaction with the beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra that it is necessary to win people's hearts before winning elections and that it is not appropriate to underestimate people's wisdom.

"The central government and the people of the country now have a direct relationship, an emotional bond. Our government is not a 'mai-baap' government; rather, it serves mothers and fathers. In the same way that a child serves his parents, this Modi works to serve you," the prime minister said.

"Modi cares for the poor, the deprived whom nobody cares for and for whom the doors of offices were closed. Not only does he care for them but he worships them. For me, every poor is VIP, every mother, daughter, sister is VIP, every farmer is VIP, every youth is VIP," he said.

The recent assembly election results have demonstrated that 'Modi's guarantee' resonates with people who believe in it, he said, thanking the electorate. People believe that "Modi ki guarantee" refers to the guarantee of fulfilling all promises, he added.

"However, the question is why the country does not trust those who oppose us. Some political parties fail to recognise that making false announcements will accomplish nothing. Elections are won in the streets, not on social media," PM said.

"Before winning elections, it is necessary to win people's hearts." It is wrong to underestimate people's intelligence. If some opposition parties had prioritised serving people over selfish political interests, a large portion of the population would not have suffered from deprivation and hardship." If those who ran the government for decades had been honest, the promises Modi is making now would have been fulfilled 50 years ago, according to the prime minister.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being carried out across the country with the goal of reaching saturation of the government's flagship schemes by ensuring that benefits reach all targeted beneficiaries on time.

Modi expressed satisfaction that people's enthusiasm is growing as the Yatra vehicles reach more and more locations. In a short period of time, over 1.25 crore people have been connected with "Modi ki guarantee" vehicles, he said, adding that nearly one lakh new beneficiaries of the free cooking gas connection scheme have also been added.

The benefits of a permanent house, tapped water connection, toilet, free health treatment, ration, gas and electricity connection and bank accounts, according to the prime minister, have reached people across the country.

Crores of families in villages across the country have benefited from government schemes without having to visit any government office repeatedly, he said.
