PM Modi Leaves For Jeddah, First Visit By Indian PM In 40 Years

PM Modi heads to Jeddah on the first visit by an Indian PM in 40 years, to sign six MoUs and finalise more agreements with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he will sign at least six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and finalise a few more agreements. Modi will arrive on Tuesday afternoon at the invitation of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister in 40 years to Jeddah.

“India values our historic relations with Saudi Arabia. Bilateral ties have gained significant momentum in the last decade. I look forward to participating in the 2nd Meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council. I will also be interacting with the Indian community there”, in his X post.

According to PTI, Modi will also discuss issues relating to Hajj, including the quota for Indian pilgrims, during his meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, in the evening.

In a statement issued by PM Modi ahead of his trip, he said, “This will be my third visit to Saudi Arabia over the past decade and a first one to the historic city of Jeddah. I look forward to participating in the 2nd Meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council and build upon the highly successful State visit of my brother His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman to India in 2023.”
