Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi Bars Entry of Non-BS6 Vehicles from Other States, Border Checks Tightened Amid Severe Pollution
As air pollution remains in the severe category, Delhi has enforced a strict ban on entry of vehicles from other states that are below BS6 norms. Delhi Police teams are deployed at border points to stop and turn back non-compliant vehicles, while only BS6, CNG, and electric vehicles are being allowed. Officials are checking vehicle registration details and compliance status, with several cars already sent back from borders like Chilla. Despite strict rules on paper, questions are being raised about ground-level enforcement, especially at petrol pumps where PUC checks are reportedly lax. With AQI hovering around 390–400, authorities say the measures aim to reduce vehicular emissions, but consistent implementation will be key to providing relief to Delhi residents.
