PM Modi, Biden To Hold ‘Constructive & Straightforward’ Talks Along With Discussion On Ukraine Situation

This comes close after India reiterated its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine saying that the path of “diplomacy and dialogue” was the best policy to resolve the conflict.

New Delhi: The bilateral meeting between US president Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of Quadrilateral Dialogue meeting will include a “constructive and straightforward” dialog along with a continued discussion on the Ukraine situation, reported news agency ANI.

"It will be a continuation of the conversation they have already had on how we see the picture in Ukraine. They will talk all of that through and this will be similarly constructive and straightforward," said US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan while speaking on the US President’s bilateral meeting with PM Modi in Japan.

The PM had said that he will also hold a bilateral meeting with the US President ahead of his scheduled visit to Japan. The two countries will discuss ways to consolidate their multifaceted bilateral relations.

"We will also continue our dialogue on regional developments and contemporary global issues," the Prime Minister added.

This comes close after India on Saturday had reiterated its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine saying that the path of “diplomacy and dialogue” was the best policy to resolve the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"Our position on Ukraine is amply clear and has been reiterated many times. Right from the time when hostilities began in February, we asked for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the path of diplomacy and dialogue remains the best policy to move forward in this regard," Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra had said while briefing reporters on the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan.
