'Flexible Workplaces, Flexible Work Hours For Women Need Of The Future': PM Modi At Labour Conference
Addressing the National Labour Conference, PM Modi said India's labour force would play a vital role in fulfilling our dreams of Amrit Kaal.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said flexible workplaces and work hours were the need of the future and the Labour Ministry was working towards developing a vision for 2047. Addressing the National Labour Conference of Labour Ministers of all states and Union Territories via video conferencing, PM Modi said India's labour force would play a vital role in fulfilling our dreams of Amrit Kaal, ANI reported.
"The Labour Ministry is working towards developing a vision for 2047, which includes flexible workplaces and work hours, work-from-home ecosystems, and working conditions conducive for women," PM Modi said.
"India lagged behind in deriving benefits of first, second and third Industrial Revolutions, but ahead in the fourth," the Prime Minister said.
The two-day conference is being organised by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment on August 25 and 26 at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
PM Modi said various schemes aimed at the upliftment of those working in the organised and unorganised sectors would help in strengthening the labour force in India.
"In the last eight years, we have brought labour reforms and removed imperialistic and regressive labour laws. Through these reforms, we have ensured basic salaries, health insurance and other benefits for labourers," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister informed emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme saved 1.5 crore jobs during Covid-19 pandemic.
"Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme for small and medium industries saved 1.5 crore jobs during Covid-19 pandemic," the PM asserted.
PM Modi said the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) played a crucial role in providing financial security to the labour force in the country.
"e-Shram portal is another example of how India is working towards strengthening unorganised sector. Those working in fields such as construction are now getting benefits of government schemes," he further said.
