Soon after the meeting of the Union Cabinet ended, Modi reached Lok Sabha to make a statement in this regard.

New Delhi: Nearly three months after the Supreme Court ruling in the decades-old case, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced the constitution of 'Shri Ram Janambhoomi Tirath Kshetra', which will decide on the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Prime Minister said in the Lok Sabha said the Union Cabinet has given its nod to set up a trust for the construction of the temple. He said also the Uttar Pradesh government has agreed to give five acres of land to the Sunni Wakf Board as directed by the Supreme Court in Ayodhya matter. Soon after the meeting of the Union Cabinet ended, Modi reached Lok Sabha to make a statement in this regard. "I am pleased to announce that a significant decision has been taken to follow the directives of the Supreme Court. As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the cabinet has prepared a detailed plan for the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya. As per the direction of the top court, a proposal for a Shri Ram JanmBhoomi Tirth Kshetra has been passed by the cabinet," Modi told the lower house. Prime Minister also thanked the people of India for showing utmost restraint in the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgement on Ayodhya land dispute. On November 9 last year, five-judge bench of the Supreme Court in a historic judgment gave the Ramjanmabhoomi to Hindus for the construction of temple rejecting the claims of the Muslims. It said the entire disputed land spread over 2.7-acre will be handed over to a trust formed by the government, which will monitor the construction of Ram temple at the site. The court had also asked the government to give 5 acre land to Sunni Waqf Board in Ayodhya for construction of a mosque.
