India Eager To Organise Olympics 2036, Will Leave No Stone Unturned In Preparations: PM Modi At 141st IOC Session

The session has been attended by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and other members of the IOC.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the 141st International Olympic Committee Session in Mumbai. The IOC Session being hosted in India after a 40-year hiatus is a source of immense pride for the nation, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Extending his gratitude to "team India" on its historic victory in the cricket match, PM Modi stated: "I congratulate Team India and Indians for a historic victory in cricket match in Ahmedabad. Sports is an important part of our culture and lifestyle."

Speaking at the 141st IOC Session, PM Modi said: "Sports strengthen the notion of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'. Our government is working towards encouraging sports activities in the country. We are focusing on inclusivity in Sports."

"From Indus Valley civilisation to the Vedic era, the legacy of sports has been prosperous in every time period of India," he further stated.

In recent years, India has demonstrated its potential to host major sporting events, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"India is eager to organise Olympics in the country. India will leave no stone unturned in the preparation for the successful organisation of the Olympics in 2036, this is the dream of the 140 cr Indians," PM Modi said, adding: "Before 2036 Olympics, India also wants to host the 2029 Youth Olympics. I believe, India will get constant support from the IOC."

The session was attended by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and other members of the IOC, along with prominent Indian sports personalities and representatives from various sports federations, including the Indian Olympic Association.

Addressing the 141st IOC Session, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said: "Another illustration of the growing Olympic spirit is the outstanding performance of the Indian athletes at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Congratulations to India on its record-breaking medal haul. This is something that the entire Olympic community in India can be very proud of."

According to IOC President Thomas Bach, the Paris Olympics 2024 will be the final Games in the pre-artificial intelligence era.

Expressing his gratitude to PM Modi, he stated: "It is a great honour to welcome you all to the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai. We are so pleased to be in India - a country on the rise, in so many ways respects, including in Olympic Sports. Your (PM Modi) presence here today is a testimony to this growing importance of Olympic Sports in your wonderful country."

"India is a truly inspiring place to hold our IOC session - a country that combines a splendid history and the dynamic present with a vigorous confidence in the future," he further stated.

After a 40-year hiatus, India is hosting the International Olympic Committee session for the second time. In 1983, the IOC convened its 86th session in New Delhi. The session is an important gathering of members of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC Sessions are where important decisions on the future of the Olympic Games are decided.

The session is intended to allow India to demonstrate to IOC delegates its readiness to host an event such as the Olympics. The event also reflects India's burgeoning status at the IOC, which has been boosted greatly by the success of Indian athletes in other international games.
