Parliament Updates: 6,000 Transit Accommodations For Kashmiri Migrants, 9.79 Lakh Vacant Posts In Central Govt
Various government ministries have furnished data to the Parliament on issues such as terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, extremism, among others.
New Delhi: The third day of the monsoon session of parliament was marked by agitations and sloganeering, with the Opposition parties on Wednesday staging protest in the Parliament premises against inflation and hike in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on certain commodities of daily use. Leaders of opposition parties, including the Congress, NCP, DMK and Left, raised slogans against the government demanding the hike in GST rates on commodities like curd, bread and paneer to be withdrawn.
The parliament has witnessed disruptions over the issue ever since the start of the Monsoon Session on Monday.
Meanwhile, various government ministries have furnished data to the Parliament on issues such as terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, extremism, among others.
- Two people died, 35 were injured and 2,642 arrested from railway premises during the agitation against the Agnipath scheme, the Railways informed the Parliament on Wednesday. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said separate data on the refund granted to passengers due to disruption of rail services on account of public disorder consequent to various agitations is not maintained. The minister said due to strikes and agitations the Railways has incurred a loss of Rs 151 crore in 2019-20, Rs 904 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 62 crore in 2021-22.

- According to the annual report of pay research unit of department of expenditure, there were 40,35,203 sanctioned posts under various ministries and departments of the central government, as on March 1, last year, according to a written reply by Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh. As many as 30,55,876 central government civilian employees were in position on the date against the sanctioned strength, it said
