5 Parliament Breach Accused Give Consent For Polygraph Test, Neelam Azad Denies

The lawyer of the accused opposed the demand for an extension of custody. However, the court extended the police custody of all 6 accused by 8 days.

Parliament Security Breach Case: Five of the six accused have given their consent for the polygraph test in the matter while two have agreed to narco analysis and brain mapping as well. Neelam Azad has refused to give consent for the polygraph test. Accused Lalit Jha, Mahesh Kumawat and Amol have given their consents for the polygraph test, while accused Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan gave their consents for the polygraph, narco analysis and brain mapping.

They were all presented before Delhi's Patiala House Court on Friday and the court has extended their police custody for the next eight days.

During the hearing, Delhi Police sought the extension of custody of all the six accused by eight days. The court said that the police have also applied for polygraph, narco test and brain mapping of the accused, and hence it asked the accused to talk to their lawyers

Police said that the SIM cards of the mobiles that were destroyed by the accused have been recovered along with some data. Delhi Police said that according to experts, psychological testing of all of them is necessary. "We will have to do narco for two people -- Manoranjan and also for Sagar," the police told the court.

Meanwhile, accused Lalit Jha, Mahesh Kumawat, Anmol gave consent for the polygraphy test whereas Neelam Azad refused to give consent for the polygraph test. Accused Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D gave consent for polygraphy, narco and brain mapping tests.


What Happened Inside Court

During the proceedings, Neelam Azad's lawyer said there was no need for police custody to investigate social media data. Police said that some passwords are being disclosed and there was a need for caution to confront the data.

On behalf of the accused, the lawyer said that the police should tell the court about the details of the password about which the police are accusing them of not giving information.

Police say that there are many facts which the accused have tried to hide, that is why the police have applied in court for the polygraph test. This application is also to be heard today.

An FIR was registered in Delhi Police in this matter under UAPA and then the police got the remand of the accused for five days, then for seven days and then for 15 days.
