Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along International Border In J&K, Opens Unprovoked Firing On BSF Troops

New Delhi: An official stated that Pakistani Rangers breached a ceasefire on Tuesday morning when they opened fire on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, news agency PTI reported.

"This morning, the alert BSF Jammu troops gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers on a BSF patrolling party," BSF Deputy Inspector General S P S Sandhu was quoted by PTI in its report.
According to the BSF Jammu public relations officer, there were no casualties on the Indian side, ANI reported.

In February 2020, India and Pakistan agreed to extend the truce along their borders in Jammu and Kashmir.
The agreement is still in effect, despite a few infractions, much to the relief of border communities and farmers who have resumed cultivating along the Line of Control and the International Border.

The Indian Army stated earlier this year that the ceasefire has been in effect from February 25, 2021, with no exchange of fire between the two forces till February of this year.
