'Pakistan Stonewalls All Efforts...': India Rules Out Joint Probe Into Pahalgam Attack

MEA Foreign Secretary Misri confirmed that the Pahalgam attack marked the beginning of the current escalation, which has since seen both countries exchange drone and missile fire.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, addressing the media on Thursday, said Pakistan’s consistent failure to cooperate in counterterror efforts rules out any effort for a joint investigation of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

“Whether it was the 26/11 Mumbai attacks or the Pathankot airbase attack, India had offered to cooperate and share forensic evidence,” Misri said. “But Pakistan has repeatedly stonewalled efforts to investigate and used our evidence to cover their tracks and obstruct justice.”

Misri confirmed that the Pahalgam attack marked the beginning of the current escalation, which has since seen both countries exchange drone and missile fire.

"The Indian response has been targeted, controlled, and focused, not provocative. No military installations were targeted; only terrorist infrastructure was struck," he said, referring to Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Misri also revealed that during a recent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) discussion on Pahalgam, Pakistan opposed the inclusion of The Resistance Front (TRF) in the statement—a group widely believed to be a proxy of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Earlier today, after Pakistan attempted to strike 15 Indian military locations using drones and missiles, India responded by neutralising an air defence radar system near Lahore.

According to the Ministry of Defence, all incoming threats from Pakistan on the night of May 7-8 were successfully intercepted and neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and air defence systems.

India maintains that its actions are proportionate and non-escalatory, but has firmly stated that further provocations will be met with precise and equal response.
